INTO THE WOODS
Season: 59 (2004 - 2005)
Run Date(s): Jun. 3, 2005 - Jun. 26, 2005
Description: music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim book by James Lapine TAMMY TATTLER'S TIDBITS . . . Take a Trip Into the Woods with Tammy Hi there, Readers. I've just returned from a fascinating weekend in the Enchanted Forest, and I can tell you that all is not happily ever after there! Every day residents are reeling with news of new accusations leveled against Fairy Land notables, several of whom have been charged with various nefarious and criminal acts. It's simply delicious! Read on for all the juicy details. Reliable resources report that the Baker and his wife have been cursed with childlessness by The Witch next door, who has demanded that they forfeit certain items in exchange for lifting her curse. It's not certain whether this flagrant (alleged) blackmail has yet been investigated by the authorities. Chief attorney for The Witch states that her client is clearly the wronged party, as will be revealed once her side of the story is told. In other news, Little Red Riding Hood, who recently vanished without a trace on her way to her Grandmother's house, has reappeared with an amazing tale. It sounds far-fetched -- even to me, dear Readers -- but Red swears she was swallowed whole by a Wolf masquerading as her grandmother. Only through the intervention of a passing woodsman was she set free from the inner reaches of the lupine interloper. "Boy was I scared," was Ms. Hood's only comment. Across town at The Castle, Cinderella is quoted as saying, "I know what people are saying about me -- that I married for money and all, but why should I have to put up with a cheating husband just because he was born into royalty? I truly believe I loved him, once upon a time, but now. . ". Prince Charming could not be reached for comment. Rumors that the above mentioned Baker's wife is the Other Woman in the Prince's life could not be substantiated at this time. And how will it all play out? Like you, Readers, Tammy is breathless with anticipation, and it looks like we'll all have chance to get the inside scoop: Is Cinderella really an ambivalent bride? Can Prince Charming control his roving eye? Is Little Red Riding Hood a bloodthirsty vigilante intent on revenge? All will be revealed in INTO THE WOODS, a daring musical expose at the Lincoln Community Playhouse June 3-26, 2005. Until then, dears!
