Run Date(s): Dec. 7, 2007 - Dec. 16, 2007

Description: It's Christmas-time, the world is at war, and for 90 brief minutes, the world is at peace as our five singing stars deliver some of the best music of the 1940's, framed by a collection of holiday and Christmas music, ranging from the classic to corny to silly and sentimental! G.I. HOLIDAY JUKEBOX is the perfect holiday gift for audiences! In 1938, Kate Smith first sang Irving Berlin's "God Bless America" during her Armistice Day radio broadcast. The country was on the brink of World War II and the lyrical plea "stand beside her and guide her" inspired a sense of patriotism and hope. "God Bless America" was an immediate hit, and Berlin's phone began to ring with requests for the sheet music the minute the song ended. More than 60 years have passed and America is in the throes of a different war, but "God Bless America" still inspires that same powerful emotional response. It's one of more than 20 songs featured in "G.I. Holiday Jukebox: The 1940s Stage Door Canteen Audition Dates: November 5-6
