The War of the Worlds established a benchmark for a whole subset of the genre by dramatizing an alien invasion of the Earth. Forty years later, Orson Welles set a radio drama of the book in the real life American town of Grover's Mill. The October 30 broadcast of Welles' dramatization started in motion a genuine mass panic. The War of the Worlds is the premiere broadcast in a series of live radio theatre presentations presented by LCP in collaboration with radio station KFOR 1240 AM.
