Description: The War of the Worlds will be broadcast at 8 PM on Thursday, October 30, from the Lincoln Community Playhouse Studio Theatre over KFOR 1240AM. Tickets are $15 for non-subscribers, $12 for LCP subscribers. In 1898, H. G. Wells wrote what is arguably the most important novel in the history of science fiction. The War of the Worlds established a benchmark for a whole subset of the genre by dramatizing an alien invasion of the Earth. Forty years later, Orson Welles set a radio drama of the book in the real life American town of Grover's Mill. The October 30 broadcast of Welles' dramatization started in motion a genuine mass panic. The War of the Worlds is the premiere broadcast in a series of live radio theatre presentations presented by LCP in collaboration with radio station KFOR 1240 AM.
