Playbill for REFLECTIONS ON A CHRISTMAS TREE

REFLECTIONS ON A CHRISTMAS TREE

Season: 58 (2003 - 2004)

Run Date(s): Dec. 12, 2003 - Dec. 21, 2003

Description: written by Rick Helweg Inspired by a short Christmas sketch written by Charles Dickens, Reflections on a Christmas Tree features the stories of Dickens, A.A. Milne and L. Frank Baum, among others, as well as favorite holiday songs, told and sung around the Christmas tree. Itís an event for the entire family that celebrates holiday storytelling, time together and good cheer. A cast of 58 will tell tales of Christmas and sing songs of the season. An author under pressure from his editor struggles to meet his deadline for drafting a holiday story, setting the themes of generosity and forgiveness that prevail at holiday time. A poor family offers to share what little it has with a young stranger who comes to the house on a cold winter night, never expecting who that child might be. The tables turn a bit with the not-so-sweet lesson of ìThe Nutcracker Dwarf.î Other stories reveal the origins of ìa bakerís dozen,î Christmas tree tinsel, and Santaís first Christmas tree. Four choirs offer favorite tunes ranging from ìIt Came Upon a Midnight Clear,î ìOh Christmas Tree,î ìIím Gettingí Nuttiní For Christmas,î to ìWhite Christmas,î and ìThe Christmas Song.î Bring your whole family to our house this holiday season.
