adapted by Christopher Hampton from the novel by Choderlos de Laclos Les Liaisons Dangereuses charts the seduction of the young and willing Cecile and the demure yet passionate Mme. De Tourvel by Le Vicomte de Valmont, a cynical, pleasure-seeking aristocrat. His seductive enterprises are encouraged by his former lover, La Marquise de Merteuil, a woman with an ulterior motive.
